Heart of Hope has a heartbeat.

When life brings its hardest season, whether illness, loss, or a load too heavy to carry alone, Heart of Hope walks beside you. God's Word in one hand, practical help in the other.

“He Himself has said, ‘I will never [under any circumstances] leave you nor forsake you.’”Hebrews 13 : 5 · Amplified

A word from Nadia

It is a place to find grace for today, strength for tomorrow, and to discover the steady presence of Jesus, my Constant One, the One who stays in and through every season. From the villages of West Africa to wherever you are right now, my prayer is simple: that you would experience His faithful love meeting you exactly where you are.

Who we are · Heart of Hope

Anchored in Jesus Christ.

Heart of Hope Ministries is a Christian foundation, anchored in Jesus Christ and the eternal hope He brings to all.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”John 3:16

We are called to share the Gospel with all nations, and to extend the love of Christ, delivering the unchanging Word of God to an ever-changing world. Through His Word, we teach people how to apply Biblical truth to every part of daily life, to encourage them and to come alongside them in the most challenging seasons.

We come alongside people during the most difficult times of their lives. For some, that road is a cancer diagnosis, a stroke or a long-term illness. For others it is burnout, loss, or a season when everything feels like too much. Whatever the road, we are there to be a support and a helping hand in their time of need.

Our ministry is built on the foundation of faith, integrity, and on dedicated supporters, medical practitioners, and churches who share this vision. In time, we aim to take hands with doctors, hospitals, clinics, and churches across South Africa to bring hope and healing to the nations.

We believe Christian churches and family are vitally important, to be God's hands and feet for each person we walk with. It is working with both hands of the Gospel: meeting the spiritual need as well as the physical need.

Our guiding word

As I waited on the Lord for a word for Heart of Hope, He laid John 21:15-17 on my heart:

“So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’ He said to him, ‘Feed My lambs.’ He said to him again a second time, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’ He said to him, ‘Tend My sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?’ Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’ And he said to Him, ‘Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed My sheep.’”John 21:15-17

I truly felt this was God's heart for our ministry: to be there for each and every person He sends along our way. No one is meant to walk the road alone.

Through Heart of Hope, we aim to take hands with churches across South Africa, helping to create support groups and a Christian family where those we walk with can find a church home to grow in their relationship with God.

Our desire is that these churches would become a safe haven for those going through the most difficult time of their lives: a structure of Christian counsellors and psychologists working hand in hand with medical practitioners. Together, making a difference in our towns and cities across South Africa.

How we come alongside

Both hands of the gospel.

Some days a person needs prayer. Some days they need someone to sit beside them in the waiting room. Most days, they need both, and we do our best to be there for both.

The first hand

The Word

Heart of Hope Ministries is called to proclaim the Gospel to all nations, extend the love of Christ, and faithfully deliver the unchanging Word of God to an ever-changing world, coming alongside individuals and families in times of need.

  • God's Word brings hope and encouragement, especially in times of need. His promises are something we can hold onto and stand upon in every season of life.
  • You are not alone in prayer. We have a lovely team who prays and stands in faith alongside us. Please know that we are here for you.
  • As a ministry, Heart of Hope partners with churches across the world, so that you can also find a church home, a Christian family to belong to.

The second hand

Helping hand of Hope

No one is meant to walk this road alone. At Heart of Hope, we come alongside you in your time of need, quietly, with dignity, and with practical help as the Lord provides.

  • To walk the road with you through counselling.
  • To be someone who is there when life feels overwhelming and even impossible.
  • And to be a bridge to churches, doctors, and other helpers who can carry you further.

The founder

Meet Nadia.

Even as I write this to you, I can still see that evening so clearly.

A missionary from Missions Beyond Borders had come to our church. I was only 16 years old. As he shared the story of Mary Slessor, the Scottish Presbyterian missionary who answered the call to Calabar, Nigeria, my heart heard every word.

At the end of his message, he asked, “Who will go?”

I knew in that moment God was calling me. And like Mary Slessor had done many years before in her little church, I found myself standing with all my heart.

Perhaps one of the most life-changing chapters began the day I boarded a plane to Northwest Africa. I was only 19. God had called me to West Africa to serve alongside Mercy Ships, an organisation bringing medical relief and hope to nations in need.

Little did I know then the journey that would unfold, and how many lives would be changed, including my own.

I had always wanted to be a doctor. God saw a bigger picture.

My longing was to make a difference: to walk the road with people, to fight alongside them, to believe with them, to stand with them, to see them become everything God created them to be.

That call led me to Australia, where I studied Community Counselling. That opened the door to Member Care and further ministry, women's meetings and simply walking the road with each person God placed on my path. Holding fast to the call He had given me so many years before.

Now looking back, I remember the rugged, rusty roads wound their way between the beautiful hills of Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Benin. Each challenge, each burst of laughter, each tear, each moment when hope came to life, a life changed for a moment that was given.

It was in that season, and in the many years to follow, that poems began to gently unfold on the pages before me. Encouraged by one of my teachers, I began pairing each poem with a photograph that captured its heart. The photo became a beautiful invitation to read the poem, and the poem an invitation to see the depth of the photograph.

From the plains of West Africa to Australia, India, and many other nations, My Constant One, Psalms of a Life's Journey came to life. Forever changed by the journey, I still find my pen writing, because the journey doesn't end here.

30 years in ministry

This year marks 30 years since God called me into full-time ministry and missions. My heart is filled with hope as I look toward seeing Heart of Hope Ministries come to life, sharing God's Word, and meeting people right where they are.

My prayer is that every fund raised in and through this ministry will go into a fund that meets people in the midst of their difficulty. For some that road is cancer or a long-term illness, for others it is caring for someone who has had a stroke, and for others still it is a need that simply could not be met any other way. A fund to help people in their most difficult time of need.

I remember one morning waking up, and God laid it on my heart to be part of the answer. That Heart of Hope would be an answer in the time of need, God's Heart of Hope meeting people right where they are.

Oh, how my heart prays that God will help me to raise the funds, so that many more can be helped.

I know my dream is bigger than me. Someone once said,

“If the dream God placed on your life is bigger than you, it is meant to stretch your faith and deepen your dependence on God rather than your own strength.”

My heart looks forward to seeing Heart of Hope come to life, God's Heart of Hope for each and every one.

Names and details are only ever shared with each person's blessing. Some stories stay between us and God, and that is how it should be.
